Model II
Model II Weissenborn style guitar with excellent figuring
For sale here is a standard Model II featuring black edge binding. It is otherwise appointed with the standard features as listed below and on the Model II page. This guitar was built over a year ago and has sat largely unused for this time. It has recently been strung up and fitted with brand new Grover tuners. With a year kept in a humidity and temperature controlled environment its tonewoods and components have settled in and the guitar exhibits no signs of wear or playing. The guitar features excellent figuring throughout the top, back and sides, unusual for my standard Model II instruments.
- Figured Tasmanian Blackwood top/back/sides.
- Grover Rotomatic tuners (nickel).
- Solid black binding on top and back edges.
- Macassar Ebony fretboard with Blackwood and Abalone inlay
- Macassar Ebony bridge
- Genuine Bone Nut & Saddle
- Solid maple soundhole rings.
- Satin lacquer finish.
AUD$1,800 (approx. USD$1,150)
Add Fishman Rare Earth humbucking pickup and hardshell case (size restrictions apply - Aust. delivery only) for AUD$600 (a $100 saving) or contact me to discuss other package deals or if you would like more information about this guitar, ordering, shipping/postage or pickups/accessories.
'Professional' Electric Lap Steel
Handcrafted electric lap steel guitar made from Queensland Maple
This Queensland Maple 'Professional' model electric lap steel is unique in that it is the last planned electric lap steel to come from Richard Wilson Guitars for the forseeable future. The focus is currently on acoustic instruments, and as such very little time and space is able to be devoted to electric lap steels. If you have been interested in purchasing this design of lap steel guitar this could be your last chance for several years (or ever!).
There is a small blemish in the wood directly next to the pickup which occurred when drilling for the guitar's wiring. See photo #7 for a close look at it. In light of this, the guitar is being offered at $100 off its normal price.
- Queensland Maple body
- Solid neck/body construction
- 25" Scale length
- Through-body strings to improve sustain
- EMG Humbucker pickup
- Volume and Tone control
- Gold hardware
- 1/4" mono output jack
- Gold Gotoh Tuners
- Black Top edge binding
- Satin lacquer finish
AUD$900 (approx. USD$575)

Model I with figured tonewoods (SOLD)
Model I featuring highly figured Tasmanian Blackwood for top/back/sides and vintage-style Tasmanian Blackwood fretboard
Unlike the standard Model I I sell, this guitar features a few unique elements. Instead of the standard plain (figure-less) Tasmanian Blackwood body, this guitar features brilliantly figured top/back/sides. Instead of the standard Ebony fretboard, this guitar features a matching figured Tasmanian Blackwood bridge featuring Maple fret markets, similar to the Koa fretboards seen on original Weissenborns. Capped off with stunning Abalone inlay, this guitar makes the most of the natural bindingless appearance of the Model I, with the brilliant tone and exceptional sustain you can expect from a Weissenborn style guitar.
- Highly Figured Tasmanian Blackwood top/back/sides
- Solid maple soundhole rings.
- Grover Rotomatic tuners (nickel)
- Tasmanian Blackwood fretboard with Maple 'fret' inlay and genuine Abalone fret markers
- Macassar Ebony bridge with Snakewood bridge pins
- Sitka Spruce internal bracing
- Genuine bone nut and saddle
- Satin lacquer finish

The guitar is finished with a thin satin finish.

Weissenborn Accesories
Goldtone Weissenborn case
The Goldtone Weissenborn case is designed to hold any standard Weissenborn guitar. If features an internal structure suited to the Weissenborn's hollow neck.
There is no Goldtone distributor in Australia at this stage. I source them directly from Goldtone in bulk shipments. As such there is often a considerable delay on these cases. Because of their size I can't ship them outside of Australia and their delivery in Australia is by courier only unless you can pick it up from Brisbane.
Contact for ordering details and a delivery quote.
Price: $300
Shubb-Pearse SP2 Steel
One of the best lap steel slides on the market. I find myself always coming back to the SP2 because of its comfortable shape, heavy mass and semi-bullet tip designed to make solos and tricky slide work a piece of cake.
Price: $50. Regular postage in Australia/NZ is $7.00. $15 to international locations.
